Biochemistry

The Clinical Biochemistry department provides a comprehensive range of tests for the diagnosis, monitoring and screening of disease. We have laboratories at both Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, providing acute and routine services to both sites. The provision of specialist diagnostics and testing for primary care across North and East Yorkshire is performed at Hull Royal Infirmary. We perform over 10 million tests per year, as well as providing interpretive advice and conducting specialist clinics.

Our department is staffed by biomedical scientists, clinical scientists, medical staff, associate practitioners, and support workers. Our scientific and medical staff are all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the General Medical Council (GMC).

The department is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) in accordance with internationally recognised medical laboratories standards, ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratories - Requirements for Quality and Competence.
