Follow Up
An appointment will be made for your child to see the consultant/surgeon in the orthopaedic clinic. This will be sent to you in the post.
School/Nursery
Your child can return to school/nursery following their clinic appointment. You can ask the consultant/surgeon for guidance on sport and games.
After the Surgery
- There will be a small dressing and bandage over the wound. Please keep it clean and dry.
- The bandage can be removed after 48 hours, leaving the small dressing (plaster) in place.
- The small dressing (plaster) can be removed after one week.
Pain Relief
- We recommend that for the first 24 to 48 hours a suitable form of analgesia is given regularly if needed e.g. Paracetamol or Ibuprofen. This should be the appropriate dose for weight and age.
- Ibuprofen may not be suitable for asthmatics.
