Service Summary

The IBD Service forms part of the Surgery Health Care Group.

The IBD Service provides diagnosis and on going care for people with IBD including:

  • Medical treatment
  • Education / advice
  • Emotional support
  • Rapid access to clinical care
  • Inpatient liaison

The IBD service works with other services and departments to provide high quality multidisciplinary care. This includes:

  • Joint medical / Surgical clinics
  • Joint Adult / Paediatric clinics for transitional care
  • Dieticians
  • Stoma Nurses
  • Medical Day Unit
  • Endoscopy Unit (Hull Royal and Castle Hill Hospitals)
  • Radiology Department
  • Clinical Psychology

Research

We are an active Research Department with a number of specific Inflammatory Bowel Disease related studies. We run a number of national and international trials from various aspects of IBD including genetics, newer diagnostic modalities and treatments.
