Clinical Support Workers Programme

The Clinical Support Workers’ programme provides a framework of development enabling the acquisition of clinical skills and clinical competence for non-registered staff. The programme offers structured generic modules with appropriate theory and practical sessions relevant to all service areas. Past participants in the Clinical Support Workers Programme have gone on to further study and have progressed into registered Nursing roles.

The Trust is committed to the Widening Participation Agenda and provides a wide range of learning opportunities to enable all levels of staff within the organisation to realise their full potential.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)

The Trust Education and Development Department are able to offer in-house NVQs in the following subjects;

  • Customer Service Levels 2 and 3
  • Health Care Awards Level 3
  • Support Services Level 2
  • Pharmacy Services Levels 2 and 3
  • Administration Levels 2, 3 and 4

The Trust also works with partner Education and Development providers to deliver more specialised NVQs such as Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities qualifications.

Statutory and Mandatory Training

A comprehensive statutory and mandatory training programme has been developed by the Trust to ensure that all staff are fully supported to maintain their professional competence whether employed in a clinical or non-clinical role.

A wide range of training is provided including Resuscitation Training, Health and Safety Training, Child Protection, Data Protection, Conflict Resolution, Major Incident training and role specific clinical training.

Leadership and Management Development

The Trust provides a number of Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accredited courses including ‘Introductory Certificate in First Line Management’ and ‘Introductory Certificate in Team Leading’. The Trust also provides and hosts a number of other leadership and management development programmes including MSc Health Professional Studies, Managing Health and Social Care Postgraduate Programme and an Executive MBA.

Knowledge and Skills Framework and Personal Development Reviews

The Trust is committed to ensuring that every member of staff will, on an annual basis, have a Personal Development Review meeting with their manager, team leader or appointed reviewer.

Educational Partnerships

The Trust has strong partnerships with the University of Hull and the Hull York Medical School (HYMS) and also works  collaboratively with a range of local colleges and other external providers.
