Critical Care and Anaesthetics

The Critical Care and Anaesthetic research department are based across the Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary sites. Our research projects cover a wide variety of areas and focus on patients in Intensive Care and High Dependency Units along with patients undergoing an anaesthetic as part of surgery. In addition we also conduct research with patients who suffer with chronic and acute pain conditions.

Our current research interests include

  • Drug studies looking at new treatments for life threating infections, including pneumonia.
  • New practices to manage patients who have had significant brain injuries.
  • A number of non-interventional studies looking at complications associated with surgery.
  • Techniques to get patients breathing by themselves more quickly.

If you are HEY staff, for further details on both our previous and current research, please visit our intranet page (internal HEY visitors only).
