The Cardiology Day Ward is part of the Cardiac and Neuro-Sciences Business Unit. The Ward was opened in 2001 and relocated to the new Cardiac and Surgical Department in February 2009. The unit is a 16 bedded area. We have an excellent team of experienced staff, who are commited to providing a high quality of care for all of our patients and their families. We welcome students and newly qualified staff, offering excellent mentorship and preceptorship programmes.. There are many learning opportunities for all levels and experience of staff.
The Cardiology Day Ward is located in the Cardiac and Surgical Department, Ground Floor. Past the ECG Reception desk, to the ‘Three Trees’ art decoration, and to the Reception on the left. The building is accessed via Entrance 1, down to the second roundabout and is the two storey building on the right (drop off and pick up point, third turning off the roundabout). Opening hours are 8am to 8.30pm. Visiting time 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Investigations / Treatments Provided
Staff prepare and recover patients who are admitted for investigation, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. The patient is either a daycase and will be discharged the same day, or will be transferred to a ward for an overnight stay.
